“If you love someone, the greatest gift you can give them is your presence”
At ten weeks we heard our baby’s heart beat. It was beyond amazing. When we arrived for the routine check up with my GP, we had no idea we were going to hear our baby. My doctor said it was quite uncommon to be able to hear them, but thought she’d give it a go. So there I was, lying on my back, the little mic on my belly, Tim standing proudly, grinning from ear to ear as we listened attentively to our little baby. I could feel the tears coming and my cheeks started to ache from smiling. The baby wanted to say hi and at that moment, they totally had me.
Two weeks later, we saw our baby for the first time, their gorgeous little body in the perfect position for the ultrasound. They floated still as the scans were taken, their little fingers, legs, belly all visible and they didn’t cause a fuss at all. They just laid there, chilling, very calm and at peace.
Our little baby has taught me a lot already and I know there’s more to come. They keep me in the moment, move me to tears and I love them so much that I feel my heart won’t stop making room as our little baby grows.
