I gave myself a rest day today, mainly because I couldn’t physically do anything. I lay on the couch and flicked through Netflix. I came across The Buddha, A Film by David Grubin. I was mesmerised.
Since my Mindfulness Retreat I’ve been really intrigued with Buddhism, but apart from reading a few Thich Nhat Hanh, listened to a few podcasts, follow very interesting bloggers and smile at Buddha Doodles, I realised I haven’t actually done the “hardcore” research that I intended to do. But now I realise, it’s a journey, it’s not a race and the bits and pieces of information about Buddhism I get is merely part of a puzzle. It gives me a little spark, it gives me hope and it reminds me to be in the moment. It reminds me why I’m so drawn to it in the first place.
Needless to say I was overjoyed seeing this documentary. The structure was well set out, the animation was gorgeous and although it was the first I heard the full story there were so many aspects that resonated with me.
So thank you PBS for producing this awesome film. And thank you even more for allowing us to watch the full program from your website!
